I’ll be moving to a new and bigger server. Expect the move to happen anytime between now to 72 hours.

All hostee’s sites will be moved as well, including databases and such. I will disable your FTPs to ensure that you wont be able to touch your sites within this period.

And I’ve fixed the download link errors. You can now download again. If in case there are other broken links, please leave a comment in the exact project page with the info of what links are broken. I’ll fixed it ASAP.

Regarding our group, we’re still under indefinite hiatus. If in case you would be taking over the projects, please tell us and we’re going to redirect people to your group.

Fanbooks

Our fanbooks DDLs are already up and running! They are all hosted on our second server, Sammael*, which was graciously provided for us by Visual Novels. If you find any broken links somewhere, please report them ONLY at the fanbooks page. You can also find some of these fanbooks at our tracker, if you still prefer downloading them using torrent. You can go over through our Fanbooks List at our forums to know which ones are already added to our tracker.

* Since this is “Kawaii Heavens,” I thought of having angel names for our server, thus, Sammael. Sammael is one of the seven archangels, the Angel of Death. He’s like the chief of all shinigami in the Fifth Heaven and there are several angels that serves him. I just thought of sharing this to you. Who knows, I might hook you up in my crazy hobby of theology hopping. :P

On to our poll for our IRC Channel, it ended today. But unfortunately, it ended with a tie at 24 votes each. >_< Therefore, I’m extending the poll another week. It will end at April 2, 2009. I hope it wont end in a tie again. ^^;

Theme

And lastly, I’ve finally finished recoding (and fixing bugs while in the process) the Primula Theme using the new fuctions of WordPress. I’ll do so with the broken Yuki Theme in the comming days.

I’m feeling quite productive and been fixing things that were left unattended for quite some time. There are only a few staff now left helping us with our turtle-paced updates. ^^;

Since we’ve merged ENS and KH, we wanted to keep only one channel. So, which IRC Channel do think we should/want us to keep?

It’s Kawaii Heavens’s 4th anniversary! Yey! (But I forgot it again this year. ^^;) It was last March 6th, to be exact.

Here’s a little gift for everyone. It was a little late (because I was lazy to make the image gift) but it’s better than never, ne? Please feel free to take the image. =)

Anywho, unto the big news, Eien no Shoujo is officially merging with us, Kawaii Heavens! Yes, you read that right. I’ll cut you all the long details, but anyway, we’ve moved all the projects from ENS here. That being said, all downloads from ENS releases are up for grabs at their respective project pages, namely: Biyaku Kyoushi and Kisu Yori Mo Hayaku. If in case our server 1 fails (that I really doubt), worry not because there are MediaFire links provided below them as back up.  And in such cases, please report the dead links! (That was probably my fault, posting the wrong URL. ^^;)

And lastly, Kiatsu’s on indefinite leave. But I think she’ll continue on with her current projects until they finish. You’ll see her around, once in  a while, but you’ll see her less that before. And probably me too, because this really cool game patch just came up and I plan on playing. But I’m still thinking about it. ^^;

I know you guys love the manga. We love it too, so we decided to help out with editing. We can’t do it faster because we also have our own lives and we have tons of things to do too, aside from editing. Please stop complaining. It’s really depressing that after we work so hard for it, we only get complains. Geez! My rant could go on, but, I’ll shut up now.

Yay! Finally~ I’ll get my internet back next week~ I swear the first thing I’ll do is go on IRC~ <3 I so misses you guys so much~ I’m really sorry I’ve been missing for awhile and that it took me forever to get my net back~ ^.^ They will install it around Wednesday or Thursday next week. I hope to be back by then. Well anyways, I’m only here to give an update about when I’m coming back~ I’m stealing my neighbor’s internet again~ *hides* Lol. You might’ve already read this, but for the sake of those who didn’t, I shall post it here. This one was posted by lambchopsil, one of KH’s pillars, our very own admin and proofreader, and who also happens to be an admin at Baka-Updates Manga.

20 Years in Prison for Buying Manga

Yes, you read that right. Here’s the deal. Christopher Handley of Iowa, USA was arrested about half a year ago for buying manga. One day, he receives 7 volumes of manga from the post office because he ordered them from Japan. The authorities follow him home because they already investigated the volumes and deemed them “obscene” and “objectionable.” He is arrested, and they confiscate his whole collection: DVDs, manga volumes, VHS tapes, computers, etc. And now he faces a trial and up to 20 years in prison. All for ordering manga.

Now, it’s true that sources say that some of the manga in question are yaoi. Sure, he may have had some hentai in his vast collection. But that’s not the point. He was just going to read them in private in his own home. He didn’t commit some heinous crime and rape someone. The issue here is about freedom. Your personal freedom.

The point is this. You decide what you want to read. Some of you (including me) will never read yaoi. Or yuri, or hentai, or gory/bloody stuff like Elfen Lied. That’s our choice to make.
But what about this scenario? Your favorite series doesn’t have any of that stuff usually. But just one place, in say volume 7, contains a single scene of rape to get the plot going in an interesting direction (mind you, it wasn’t that graphic either). Now imagine the authorities busting into your house and arresting you because you own a manga series with that some obscene content here and there.

So how does this apply to you? Naruto has had some pretty graphic deaths before. Same goes for Bleach. You a shoujo fan? Ever read Peach Girl? Now read this news article. You can name many examples taken from your favorite series. I for one can think of scenes from Mahou Sensei Negima!, something I have personally helped scanlate for the last 2-3 years. Or even Gantz, which I know tons of you read. So who draws the line for what you read? You or them?

Now, I know what you’re thinking. All your manga is downloaded, so there’s no physical evidence of what you’re reading. But investigators can check your hard drive or the trail you leave on the internet for what sites you visit. This may just be the beginning to something broader that could affect you in the future. Future technology could make it much harder for you to get your entertainment. Who can say? (Or the unspoken question: When/Will the companies finally crack down on fansubbing and scanlating?)

Or you’re saying that you don’t read any of that “hardcore” stuff? For sure you’re safe… for now… With the current laws, you won’t get prosecuted for reading Gantz (at least I hope so). But things can change, possibly for the worst.

So what can you do? I realize that a lot of you aren’t even in the United States. But at least some scanlators are. And there are many manga fans here in the US too. I also realize that a lot of us don’t have much money. (Or else why would we download illegally for free?) If you feel willing to help monetarily for this court case and future similar cases, you can do so by donating. If not, you can still spread the news to all the manga fans you know. At least I got you thinking. We fans could use better unity.

Or you can totally ignore this and feel it doesn’t apply. Your choice.

I apologize for being an MIA for about a month… Well to tell the truth it’s a long story, but let’s make it short… I went on an unplanned vacation (not really like one, but whatever) for two weeks at the end of October, and then when I got back… Had a little family arguement, and then the internet got cut off… I had to look for a job to get the internet back and so I’m stealing the internet from our neighbour… *looks around suspiciously* hopefully no one sees me doing it~ *sigh & hides*

Anyways, that’s all I can tell you all right now, I promise I’ll be back soon since I finally found a job and I’ll be able to get our net back~ I’m really really sorry for not giving any notice beforehand~ especially to Euri-sama, Fishie-sama, Lacaille-sama, our partners in scanlation and the rest of the staffs… I really apologize for missing when we already lack editors~ >_< I promise I’ll be back as soon as possible~!
